Kiplinger, a prominent finance magazine, booted Claremont McKenna College from its annual rankings after learning the prestigious liberal arts school had falsified its students’ SAT scores for the past six years. Claremont McKenna had been ranked 18th among private liberal arts colleges in the magazine’s rankings. According to Claremont McKenna officials, one administrator (who has since been fired) was guilty in the scandal—bumping SAT scores up by 10 to 30 points in order to improve the school’s rankings in U.S. News & World Report. In U.S. News’ most recent rankings, Claremont McKenna had been ranked ninth among liberal arts colleges, up two slots from the previous year. (Los Angeles Times)
