Teens who smoke cigarettes are more likely to make reckless decisions, according to research from the University of California, Los Angeles. Scientists found that teens who were addicted to nicotine had lower activity in the decision-making parts of their brains. “In the digital age, the powers of concentration on these kids are already not what they were in the previous generation,” said Len Horovitz, a pulmonologist at Lenox Hill Hospital. “Impulse and impulse control are probably already underdeveloped, and smoking would accentuate that.” (AOLHealth.com)
