Parents may think they’re setting a good example for their kids while they’re driving. Their kids say, “Think again.” According to Consumer Reports, 82 percent of teens have said they’ve watched their parents drive carelessly; and while 95 percent of parents believe they’re awesome drivers, more than half admit their children have given them unsolicited driving advice such as “slow down,” or, “put down that middle finger and steer with both hands, please.” Even though children say their parents aren’t always the best of drivers, they still pay close attention to how Mom and Dad drive and often model their own driving behaviors by what they do. More than three-quarters of kids ages 9-12 and two-thirds of teens claim to be heavily influenced by their parents’ driving habits. (Consumer Reports)
