Jesus once said, “If your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off.” It was His way of declaring the seriousness of sin—and to do whatever we’re able to turn from sin. Yet it’s possible that one Chinese teen took the literal premise of that verse to a frightening level.
The 19-year-old teen, who apparently felt he’d become addicted to the Internet, sliced off his own hand to curb his compulsion. He then called an ambulance and left a note for his mother—along with the severed hand—letting her know he’d be home soon.
Luckily, the hand was found after a few minutes and sent to the hospital, where doctors successfully reattached it.
China and several other countries in the Far East are dealing with what experts call epidemic levels of Internet addiction. As high as 14 percent of youth in China may be addicted, according to psychologists. Rehab centers designed to combat the addiction have sprung up all across Asia. (Fox News)
