Campus Crusade for Christ International, one of the biggest evangelical ministries in the world, has decided to change its name. Beginning early next year, the organization will be known simply as Cru. “We felt [as if] our name was getting in the way of accomplishing our mission,” said Steve Sellers, vice president for the ministry. Campus Crusade did some research and found that about 20 percent of non-Christians, and 9 percent of Christians, were turned off by the name. That said, the mission of Campus Crusade hasn’t changed. According to the organization’s website, the name “Cru enables us to have discussions about Christ with people who might initially be turned off by a more overtly Christian name. We believe our interaction and communication with the world will be what ultimately honors and glorifies Christ.” (Fox News)
