A new werewolf-themed doll from Mattel has some youth experts howling mad. The doll, Clawdeen Wolf from Mattel’s Monster High collection, comes with a revealing skirt, tall boots and lists flirting with boys as her favorite hobby. According to her backstory, Clawdeen also must wax and shave like crazy. “My hair is worthy of a shampoo commercial, and that’s just what grows on my legs,” reads the character description. “Plucking and shaving is definitely a full-time job, but that’s a small price to pay for being scarily fabulous.” Experts believe Clawdeen may have a negative impact on little girls who are most likely to play with the doll. “These dolls are training girls to feel ashamed of their bodies, to focus on being sexually appealing and sexually attractive from a pre-pubescent age,” said Patrick Wanis, a human behavior expert. “By sexualizing these young girls, corporations also create another avenue to market and sell more products to a younger demographic. These dolls also promote skimpiness of clothing, encouraging a young girl to dress like a stripper and believe they must be sexually enticing to everyone around them.” (Fox News)
