Less than half of smartphone users actually call people with their pocket gadgets, according to a poll by the social communications company CloudTalk. Instead, most folks let their fingers do the talking: The most popular use of a smartphone is to text, followed by email and checking up on social networks. “What we’re seeing at CloudTalk is that people love to talk, as long as (as with text messaging) it doesn’t require our immediate attention,” says CloudTalk’s CEO David Hayden. “We can respond on our own time and see the entire conversation thread at a glance—it’s just more convenient.” (Time)
