A father has redesigned Donkey Kong so Princess Pauline now rescues Mario—all for his 3-year-old daughter. Mika and his daughter apparently play video games together quite a bit, according to a post from the father on YouTube. As such, she’s gotten used to playing more modern Nintendo-based games in which you can play as the character of your choice. The classic version of Donkey Kong doesn’t allow gamers that luxury: You’re Mario, and you’ve got to rescue the helpless princess from the clutches of the barrel-throwing Kong. “She seemed really bummed out by that,” Mika wrote in a YouTube post. “So what else am I supposed to do? Now I’m up at midnight hacking the ROM, replacing Mario with Pauline.” (Digital Trends)
