There’s a time and a place for everything, Americans say; when it comes to smartphones, that time does not include social gatherings.
According to a Pew Research Center poll, people seriously frown at people when they use their phones during certain activities. A full 88 percent said it was rude to use them during dinner 95 percent said they shouldn’t be used in a movie theater, and a whopping 96 percent said no one should whip out a cell phone during religious services.
More than eight in 10 respondents felt that using phones in social situations can destroy in-the-flesh conversations. That said, 89 percent admitted they’d used their own phone during their latest social event. (Pew Research Center)
