“Sam & Cat,” Nickelodeon’s sequel to “iCarly” and “Victorious,” has ended after one year despite strong ratings. While the network didn’t give a reason for the cancellation, the show has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. Jennette McCurdy, who played Sam, posted some tawdry selfies on the Internet earlier this year; and when she skipped Nick’s Kids’ Choice Awards shortly thereafter (after being nominate for favorite TV actress), she tweeted that the boycott was because of Nick’s treatment of her. There were also rumors that she and costar Ariana Grande were fighting.
Regardless, Grande said goodbye to the show with class, giving thanks to the show’s cast and crew and giving a special call-out to her fictional character, Cat.
“One of my favorite things about Cat was that she never lost her sense of wonder,” she wrote on Facebook. “As we grow up we become more and more jaded and fearful of how we come across. We hold back a little more, protect ourselves a little more and although Cat goes through the same ridicule as anybody else does growing up, she never changed or lost her childlike wonder…To me she is actually a lot smarter, stronger and braver than all the rest of us.” (Time, ET Online, Facebook)
