More than half of young teens—those between the ages of 12 and 15—are physically unfit, according to a study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In fact, only 42 percent were found to have hearts that were in, at the very least, adequate shape. That’s a 10 percent drop in heart fitness since 2000.

The study also found that girls were less healthy than boys. Only a third of the females tested had healthy hearts, compared with more than half of boys. (Time)
