If they grow sentient, we’re all in trouble. Internet-savvy devices now outnumber people in the United States, according to a study by the NPD Group. Research suggests there are 425 million gadgets capable of Internet connectivity—ranging from computers and smartphones to videogame consoles, television sets, as well as refrigerators—compared to approximately 315 million people. Computers make up the biggest chunk of Internet devices (there are 183 million of those), followed by smartphones (133 million) and gaming consoles (39 million). All these devices have made many people’s lives easier and more fun. Still, let’s hope they don’t band together and demand the right to vote. (USA Today)
