The 2012 Olympic Games in London were considered the most social—as in social networking—in history, and the numbers prove it. More than 150 million Olympic-themed tweets were sent during the two-week event. The most popular single sporting event to be tweeted was Usain Bolt’s victory in the 200-meter sprint, which generated 80,000 tweets a minute. Still, even the fastest man in the world couldn’t beat the Spice Girls’ closing ceremony performance. That generated an awe-inspiring 116,000 per minute. (Los Angeles Times)
