Twitter, the social network that packages posts in 140-character tweets, continues to grow at a rapid pace. Since November 2010, Twitter has more than doubled its users, and now a full 18 percent of Americans use the network.
The most likely to have signed on are young adults: About three of every 10 youth between the ages of 18 and 29 are on Twitter, up from 14 percent in November 2010.
Social networks continue to grow across the board: 72 percent of Americans use at least one social networking outlet, with youth again leading the way: About 89 percent of young adults use social networks. (Pew Research Center’s Internet and American Life Project)
