The Apple Watch surely will boast a number of interesting apps when it officially goes on the market April 24, but one of the most interesting would have to be Rehabstudio’s Life Clock, which counts down the days, minutes and seconds you have left until you (statistically) die.
Life Clock will monitor your habits and reward or dock you for them. “For example, if you were to sleep only five hours, when you’re supposed to sleep eight, the app would deduct 26 minutes from your life expectancy,” writes Alex Alba for the New York Daily News. “However, if you complete a 30-minute workout session, the app restores 36 minutes to your time.”
The app’s developers are hoping to encourage its users into better health habits. “In essence, the idea is we discount the future in favor of the present,” Tom Le Bree, who partners with Rehabstudio, told Wired. “Tomorrow, I’m the guy who goes to the gym, quits smoking and stops eating fatty foods. Today I’m going to have one last cigarette.” (New York Daily News)
