A new survey—one connected with the USA drama “Satisfaction,” so it take it for what it’s worth—has found that some millennials think the marriage contract could use a few improvements. In fact, 43 percent think marriage should have a two-year trial period: After the two years, the marriage is either sealed forever or quietly dissolved.
The survey also found that more than a third would be interested in a real estate sort of marriage commitment, where licenses are granted on anywhere from 5- to 30-year terms. If you want to stay married after that, you’ll have to re-negotiate. About 31 percent thought divorce should be made illegal; 21 percent believed it would be good to have a chance to elect a new partner after a four- or eight-year term; and 10 percent thought polygamy was a dandy idea.
