When it comes to college athletics, the big game can be big business. So perhaps it’s no surprise that a number of colleges recently have been accused of helping their star athletes cheat.
The NCAA punished Syracuse University for academic fraud earlier this year. The University of North Carolina was embroiled in a cheating scandal of its own—perhaps involving thousands of students—and still is waiting to hear what the NCAA plans to do about it. Texas University is being investigated, too. It is alleged, among other things, that a Texas basketball player took pictures of test questions with his phone and then sent them to someone who would look up the answers. The NCAA is said to be investigating at least 20 schools for academic fraud. (NPR)
