Youth on Mission is an international short-term missions agency that has sent more than 60,000 people to the field since its founding in 1992. Teams consist of church groups, school classes and business people who come together to work on projects and share the gospel in the United States and abroad.
ECFA accreditation is based on the ECFA Seven Standards of Responsible Stewardship™, including financial accountability, transparency, sound board governance and ethical fundraising.
“Even though our ministry is nearly 20 years old, we have to take accreditation seriously,” said Frank Dees, Director of YOM. “It’s unfortunate, but in an age of ministry scams and online schemes, we want our donors and trip participants to know we are above reproach. ECFA accreditation is an important piece of our accountability to our supporters and the broader Christian community.”
Youth on Mission joins a growing number of Christ-centered churches and ministries across America, supported by more than 35 million donors, having earned the right to display the ECFA seal. When an organization is accredited by ECFA, it demonstrates its willingness to follow the model of biblical accountability.
“We are pleased to include in our membership a ministry committed to meeting spiritual and physical needs by equipping and mobilizing short-term mission teams for the purpose of sharing the love of God through His Son, Jesus Christ,” said Dan Busby, president of ECFA.

“We have an exciting list of trips lined up in 2012,” said Dees. “In the United States, we’re taking groups to inner cities, Appalachia and the North Carolina coast. Internationally, we’ll be going to Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Panama and Uganda. These trips represent many opportunities to engage the locals, be of service and share the good news of the gospel.”
YOM teams participate in a variety of mission activities during trips. From construction projects to Vacation Bible Schools, sports camps to orphanage ministries, concerts to church plants, the options for ministry are plentiful. Opportunities to engage in sharing the gospel are interwoven throughout the YOM short-term mission trips.
“YOM takes the pressure off of a trip organizer,” Dees said. “We take care of the logistics, scheduling, lodging, food and activities. It’s a proven model that has worked for thousands of groups who have worked with YOM through the years.”
